The Doggy Dash N’ Splash is much more than a good time for the family dog.
This is a full-blown festival that can provide a day of fun for the whole family, centered around caring for animals and celebrating the family pet. Puppy Freebies If your kids are anything like mine, then they love a good freebie. At nearly every booth we visited, the organizations and vendors had treats, promotional Frisbees and even tennis balls to take home. At the Humane Society, there were free Responsible Owner activity sheets, and Superpetz even gave us free hermit crab coupons. This kind of swag makes the festival more interactive for the kids, and gives them something to walk home with. Shopping and Socializing Of course, every festival has lots of shopping and food available. The kids enjoyed looking for our own dog breeds in the various vendor booths full of pet themed purses and signs. The concessions were fairly priced, with plenty of kid favorites like a huge basket of Texas Taters for only $4.00. One thing that is nice about this festival is getting the chance to meet professional dog trainers and groomers that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to have a chat with before making an appointment. My kids liked talking to them about what kinds of dogs they have worked with, and even told me which groomers and trainers they would trust with our own dogs. If you are new to the Dayton area, this is a good festival to get acquainted with dog care in the Miami Valley. The Dayton Dog Training Club answered questions about training tricks, and Ginger’s Poochie Bath let us know that you can wash your dog yourself at their Kettering location. Sean Platt was providing caricatures of pets and their owners, and the Dayton CARE Center got the word out about their 24 hour emergency animal care in Centerville.
