FBR Open Brings In 43M For Thunderbirds Down From 86M 2009: 86 Million

FBR Open brings in 43M for Thunderbirds down from 86M

That is down from $8.6 million in 2008, a record for the Professional Golf Association.
The recession is a major reason for the decrease, as charity giving is down in most industries across the country. “The Thunderbirds are thankful for the unbelievable support this community gives to the FBR Open, even in these tough economic times,” said Felix. The 2010 tournament will be held at the TPC Scottsdale from Feb. 22-28, the first time the tournament will not played on Super Bowl Sunday. A replacement has yet to be named. “We’re still looking,” said spokesman Rob Meyers. “We’ve had quality meetings with a number of companies, but nothing is imminent.” The FBR Open is the PGA’s highest attended event. This year, it drew 507,900 fans for the week, down from 536,767 in 2008.
