Festival of Angels Celebrates Italian Renaissance

ith a grape stomp, parade, soccer tournament, crazy ties, and 1,500 square feet of family trees, the fifth annual Italian Festival of Angels promises
to be a fun event this Friday and Saturday on the Town Green. The festival, held by the North Haven Sons & Daughters of Italy Lodge 2805, is free and open on Friday, 3 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The festival features food, crafts, games, contests, vendors, and live music, as well as Italian cultural exhibits. For the price of a $3 tickets, one can win a 2009 Vespa LX 50cc Italian motor scooter. Second prize in the raffle is a 32-inch LCD TV. Stephen Aquilino, who is in charge of selling tickets for the Vespa raffle, said that the festival has raised $85,000 for charity over its four-year history. This year the Muscular Dystrophy Association will receive the donation. The scooter will be raffled at 9 a.m. Saturday on the Green. Tickets for the raffle are still available.
