The City of Farmington Hills is to host the Thrive Music Festival and Carnival today through Sunday at Founders Sports Park, 35500 Eight Mile
Road. The event is to offer music from more than 70 bands, as well as other entertainers and carnival games. Kid’s Day is to be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with magic acts, mime shows, crafts, a professional skateboard demonstration and a petting zoo. Festival hours are to be from 5 to 11 p.m. today and Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Thin Blue Line of Michigan Charity Softball Classic is to be held Saturday at Duck Lake Pines baseball diamonds, 1241 N. Duck Lake Road. Members of the Milford and White Lake police departments and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office are to play the Red Wings Alumni and local celebrities. Games are to be at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the game. For details on purchasing tickets, call the Comeback Inn at 248-887-5900.
The Folk Music Society of Midland is to host a gathering of folk musicians, traditional dancers and folk music enthusiasts. The event is to start at noon each day, from today to Sunday, at the Midland County Fairgrounds, 6905 Eastman Road.
