Grandmother Karen Davy managed to sing for 48 hours straight to set a Guiness world record and raise money for charity.
Travelers at Auckland airport were serenaded from Monday to Wednesday last week as the Dolly Parton impersonator warmed up with humming, fortified herself with soup in the 5 minute break she was allowed per hour, and finished with a sore throat but over $7000 in support. The funds raised go towards caring for New Zealand children with kidney disorders and their families through Kidney Kids.
After her amazing 48 hour marathon sing, coping paperwork to send to Guiness world records, and promoting her favourite charity, grandmother Karen said simply, “I’m really, really tired”.
