Grow It Yourself! (GIY) with Farmer Jason: Lettuce Celebrate Spring

Learn the proper way of gardening and help end hunger in West Michigan.

Green, pink, purple, blue, orange, and yellow – these are the colors most associated with Spring. This April 7, learn how to create more greens, yellows, and oranges around you by attending Grow It Yourself! (GIY) with Farmer Jason. Presented by Kids’ Food Basket at the Hackley Public Library, this hands-on workshop will cover the dos and don’ts of caring for a garden. Make sure to bring the whole Spring crew, from the young ones to the older generation, as this event is open to all ages. You’ll also get to take home your very own “Grow Kit” after the session to put your new gardening skills to practice. Proceeds raised will go to Kids’ Food Basket, an organization working hard toward a healthy and hunger-free West Michigan.

Join Kids’ Food Basket’s very own Farmer Jason at the Hackley Public Library during Spring Break. At this fun and informative session, he will cover gardening basics including space and site considerations, soil fundamentals, seed selection and key dos and don’ts for starting a successful summer garden. Families will also assemble their own “Grow Kit” to take home, nurture and enjoy!

When: April 7, 2026, 3 to 4:40 p.m.
Where: Hackley Public Library | 316 W Webster Ave. Muskegon, MI 49440
