Wednesday, 26 August 2009 A CHARITY event has been organised in memory of a popular sportsman.
Mark Coward, 21, died on February 19 after suffering heart and lung infections. Now friends of the Askam Amateur Rugby League Club scrum half have banded together to raise money for charity as a tribute to him. The event on Sunday will start with a cricket match at the club in Sandy Lane between Duddon Cricket Club players and Askam rugby league players. A barbecue will be held while the match is being played. A disco will take place at the club from 8pm.
Mr Cowards cousin, Steven Stevo Coward, the lead singer of Leeds-based band Bikini Black Special, will be performing an hour-long acoustic set in the evening.
