THE SEARCH is on for young local talent to take part in a major charity event held in Dumfries in January.
The hugely popular Strictly Cabaret is back for another year. Team Meningitis are on the lookout for youngsters in the area to take on lead parts in a production of ‘Oliver Wi A Twist’ and the West Sound Cash For Kids Team are desperate for male dancers for their production of ‘Chicago’. Director and choreographer Graham Anderson said: “I’m very aware of the talent in the area and I’m looking for young actors from Dumfries and Galloway to audition for roles including the two main parts of Oliver and The Artful Dodger at the Easterbrook Hall on Sunday, September 6, at 2pm, in the Duncan rooms. “The auditions will require youngsters to read a piece of script and sing part of the song, Consider Yourself, which will be sung in a Cockney accent. “We are also looking for some strong singers and dancers.” Although Michael and Patsy thought the show had run its course last year, the thought of all the charities losing approximately £4,000 each was too much to bear, so they decided to go ahead with it again this year. Michael said: “I have been blown away with the success of the show, it has really captured the spirits of the town, which is fantastic. Our main goal is to raise as much money as possible for local charities as well as having fun.”
