Oldest Town In Texas Rally Stirs Local Interest 2009: Oldest Texas

Oldest Town In Texas Rally stirs local interest

The Oldest Town in Texas Rally is beginning to generate a lot of interest at the Nacogdoches County Exposition Center.
The OTT Rally, a combination of events including a motorcycle rally, barbecue cook-off and concerts, will be hosted Sept. 18, 19 and 20. In previous years, the third weekend in September at the Expo Center had featured the Do Dat Barbecue, but as the Do Dat came to an end after a 23-year run, the new OTT Rally found its beginning. Event coordinator Dennis Hinson with Team MotorJam said that the barbecue cook-off is only a part of this new event. While the OTT Rally will have lots of barbecue, the real focus is on motorcycles, Hinson said. Stunt shows, custom bike shows and builders and biker competitions are just some of the events that will be featured within the three-day event. “It’s mostly catering to the bikers of the community and from the outlining areas,” Hinson said. “It’s our (Team MotorJam) biggest event, and we’re getting our biggest reaction. It’s also attracting vendors as far as South Dakota who are associated with the bikers &mdash leather vendors, lights that light up the bikes, different things like that.” The event will also host a motorcycle parade downtown on the Nacogdoches square starting at 11 a.m. Sept. 19. The parade will also be the first stop of the Harley’s Angels Charity Poker Run, a non-profit group raising money to fight breast cancer. “We’re also working with the Christian Motorcycle Association,” Hinson said. “A portion of the proceeds will be going to them.”
Despite the emphasis on motorcycles, the OTT rally will have something for everyone, Hinson said.
