August 30, 2009 ORANGETOWN: Tina Sullivan, the owner of the Allstate agency at 6 Orangetown Center in Orangeburg, received Allstate’s Regional Champion Award.
The award recognizes high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitable business growth. ORANGETOWN: The Sunset Toastmasters in Pearl River competed in the Toastmasters International’s annual fall speech contest. Aubree Lynn from Nanuet was the winner in “Table Topics.” Contestants were given an impromptu topic and had up to two minutes to complete a speech. Irwin Weinbaum of Pomona, another Sunset Toastmasters member, won in the “Tall Tale” speech, which featured a five- to seven-minute talk. The Toastmasters organization helps its members improve public speaking and leadership skills. The Sunset Toastmasters meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Pearl River Library. WEST NYACK: Samantha Quinn from West Nyack will sing “America the Beautiful” at the Sept. 8 evening session of the U.S. Open. Auditions to select 15 performers were held in June. Quinn, who is 11 years old, is entering sixth grade at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack. She is a member of the Lower Hudson Valley Youth Chorus, the St. Catharine’s Children’s Choir and the Helen Hayes Youth Theatre, and performs as a national anthem soloist at sporting, charity and community events.
