Kathryn Wilson is widely regarded as one of the nicest faces of the fashion industry.
She confirmed her much deserved status by last night joining forces with the YWCA to help raise funds for its Future Leaders programme- and not for the first time either. It’s the third year the event has been held at The New Gallery in Lorne Street and a relationship that Kathryn hopes will continue in the years to come. The exhibition and auction previewed ten pairs of Kathryn Wilson’s yet-to-be-released summer collection, which is described as “optimistic, bright and fresh”- much like the talented designer herself. The silent auction process was lively and light hearted with everyone vying for the opportunity to nab a great bargain and support a fantastic charity which boasts over 90% of donations going directly to the programmes it promotes. Also up for auction was the opportunity for one extremely lucky woman to collaborate with Kathryn to design their ‘dream shoe’ a truly priceless prize which last year was won by Lady Owen and one which was hotly contested for again this year. Unfortunately I was pipped at the post (much to my husband’s delight) by none other than the self-confessed shoeaholic the President of the YWCA. For me it doesn’t get much better than this- an evening of champagne, canapés and designer heels and all for a worthy cause. If you didn’t make it to this year’s event, be sure to book in for next year as YWCA will be celebrating its 125th year anniversary and I am sure there will be more Kathryn Wilson delights as the designer goes from strength to strength with each passing season.
