WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Michael Allen, who won his senior debut in the Senior PGA Championship in Beachwood, Ohio, has opted not
to play in the Principal Charity Classic in West Des Moines. With his victory on Sunday, Allen became eligible to play in this week’s Champions Tour event at Glen Oaks County Club. Tournament director Jamie Alt says Allen had 30 minutes after his victory was official to commit to the Principal Charity Classic, and he decided against it. Ten of the 11 leading money winners for the 2009 Champions Tour season will be teeing off in the Principal Charity Classic. Bernhard Langer, who leads the money list, will not play. The official 54-hole competition begins on Friday. ___
