(Fermanagh Herald) (View the Digital Edition online) It’s not easy to imagine a connection between Lough Erne Golf Resort and Mozambique but for four
Fermanagh ladies the prestigious five-star hotel is the perfect venue for a major fund raising event for a building project in this south east African country.
Aideen McGinley, Sheila Gilroy Collins, Barbara Johnston and Joanna McVey are travelling to Mozambique next April as part of an all women team under the auspices of the housing charity, Habitat for Humanity. The team’s challenge is to build 15 traditional huts in a week, using local material and methods, for the country’s most vulnerable group &150orphans who have lost parents to HIV/AIDS.
Aideen and Sheila were part of the first all-women Habitat team from Northern Ireland when they took part in a build in Thailand a few years ago.
Later on, Aideen and Joanna joined another all-women group for a build in Chile. This will be Barbara’s first venture with Habitat and before the team go to Mozambique all four will participate in a Habitat build within Northern Ireland.
Whilst each individual pays her own expenses the team is committed to raise funds for the charity’s work. With this in mind the Fermanagh four are organising a very special event at the Golf Resort on Thursday 14th November. ‘Gourmet Glamour’ will comprise an evening of fine dining and fashion wisdom hosted by style guru, Paula Reed.
