Some of the most memorable movies starring Michael J. Fox were the cherished gems of our childhood. Films like “Back to the Future” and “Teen Wolf” became iconic, evoking a sense of nostalgia for those of us who grew up watching them. These movies shaped our imaginations and transported us to extraordinary worlds. However, amidst the fond memories, there is also sadness in learning about Michael J. Fox’s battle with Parkinson’s disease. It’s a sobering reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and the challenges that even our beloved heroes face. Despite his diagnosis, Fox’s determination and advocacy for Parkinson’s research continue to inspire and unite communities around the world.
Fueled by his personal journey with Parkinson’s disease, Michael J. Fox turned his diagnosis into a catalyst for change. In 2000, he founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s. With unwavering determination, Fox channeled his fame and influence into a powerful force for fundraising, research, and advocacy, paving the way for innovative studies and breakthroughs in Parkinson’s treatment and ultimately offering hope to millions affected by the disease.
Fast forward to the present day, where the impact of Michael J. Fox’s advocacy continues to reverberate. In 2023, the vibrant city of Denver is gearing up to host the highly anticipated Run/Walk event in support of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, bringing together a community of passionate individuals determined to make a difference in the fight against Parkinson’s.
About the Run/Walk Series
Inspired by our community, The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) established the Run/Walk Series (formerly known as the Fox Trot) in 2017 in New York City. Since then, the Series has evolved and expanded to several locations across the United States.
These family-friendly events connect those living with Parkinson’s, their loved ones, supporters and community partners. Collectively, the Run/Walk Series has raised more than $6 million and united over 18,000 participants across the United States and internationally.
All proceeds from the Run/Walk Series go directly to MJFF’s high-impact research programs to speed better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s.
Your involvement is critical to our Foundation’s mission.
Thank you again for your support!
