The Plan Is To Roll A Million Games In A Day Nationwide 2009: Years National

The plan is to roll a million games in a day nationwide

This year’s National Bowling Week runs from Aug.
29 to Sept. 5, and part of the celebration will be an attempt to surpass the world’s record of games bowled in a 24-hour period. Last year, 808 bowling centers reported over 548,000 games on the record-setting day. This year on Sept. 5, games will be tracked at bowling centers across the country to try to break the million-game mark. Both McHenry Bowl and Yosemite Lanes will start games at midnight, with special events and pricing and run through midnight, Sept. 6. In the McHenry No-tap Tournament, there were four champions in the four divisions based on average and gender. In the higher average division for men, 170 and up, Jay Faughn topped the list with an 893 score. Willie Ereso was second with his 868, followed by Dennis McKinney at 847. On the 169 & under division, John Koetsier took first place with an 833 set. Ken Powers landed in second with a 785, and, at 780, was Bob Britt in third. On the ladies side, Jean Bertolosso finished high for the 152-and-up average division with an 852 score. Anja DeBoer bowled a 783 for the second slot, with Olivia Clinton next in line at 777. Rose Baker won the ladies 151-and-under division when she rolled an 868. Ann Zuidema was a close second only 2 pins down with an 866. Margaret Losquadro finished third at 803. In local league play, Jon Wagner recorded his first 800 series (803), while competing in the Sierra League. He rolled games of 279-278-246. Congrats, Jon! This Thursday is the “Old Spice” Men’s Team No-Tap at McHenry. The trio tournament starts at 9:30 a.m. check-in is at 9 a.m. The “55 and Older” No-Tap rolls Friday at Yosemite starting at 1 p.m. check-in is at 12:30.
