VERNON, N.Y.
(WKTV) – There’s a big buzz at the Atunyote Golf Club in Vernon where the world’s number one golfer is in town and it’s all for charity. Tiger Woods making his first appearance in Central New York to play in his buddy Notah Begay III’s charity skins game which supports Native American youth programs. Not just average fans packing the course, Syracuse Head Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim here to watch as well. Obviously, this is a much more relaxed event than the typical PGA tournament. While Tiger says it will be fun, there is $500,000 on the line and he came here to win. Tiger obviously the focus but certainly not the only big name. Along with Begay, Mike Weir and Camilo Villegas have returned after playing last year.
Weir is ranked 29th in the world. Villegas is ranked 16th and he’s been on People’s most beautiful list.
