Get involved WALKING became a form of therapy for Colin Wilmott following the death of his wife Gillian from breast cancer.
He hopes by continuing to support the charity he can help prevent his daughters and grand-daughters suffering from the disease. Colin, a former rugby player, who works for Torfaen council, has just been named Breast Cancer Campaign’s individual fundraiser of the year, after raising £10,000 last year for the charity. And the grandfather-of-three will continue fundraising for the charity after setting up a tribute fund in memory of Gillian. Gillian was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in February 2006, but despite undergoing numerous courses of chemotherapy and surgery, she died in August 2007, at the age of 50. “Her prognosis was not good from the outset,” said Colin, who lives in Croesyceiliog. “She was aware of that and she fought hard.
“We were very close as a family &ndash the children and grandchildren were everything to her and we did everything together.
