Womens Show Announces Charity Beneficiaries 2009: Fun Something

Womens show announces charity beneficiaries

You can have a little fun, learn a little something and now do a little good as the Upstate Women’s Show announces two charity
beneficiaries for its 2009 event. Special events to raise funds and awareness for Safe Harbor and Harvest Hope Food Bank will be held during the Aug. 27-29 show. “Just because of our world today, how everything is and how much need there is, I really wanted to thread a little bit of giving back through the show,” said Jacqui Bomar, show producer. “Since I have a crowd of people, why not get the messages out more and more of what the need is and to try to make a difference in the community in some small way.” Bring five non-perishable food items to the show and receive $2 off the $8 admission price. All donations will go to the Harvest Hope Food Bank, which distributes food to those in need. In addition, two new special events will focus the fundraising. In “My Girlfriend’s Closet,” one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure. Clean out your closet or dresser and donate your hats, purses, scarves, jewelry and more, and then shop around the “boutique” for the perfect new-to-you accessory. All proceeds will go directly to Safe Harbor. Donations can be brought to the show or dropped off before Aug. 25 at the Hope Chest on Pleasantburg Drive. “I just want people to be aware and what better place than when you’re in front of 8,000 women to share that message,” Bomar said.
Former soap opera star Lisa Rinna was among the guest celebrities at the 2008 show. (Staff)
