When someone is diagnosed with a critical disease or illness like cancer, it creates a ripple effect on the lives of their family as well. Children who are diagnosed with cancer, are impeeded to experience normal lives, and so are their loved ones. Every cancer story is different, but one thing is sure, everyone needs any help they can get.
Apart from helping children with cancer by providing medical services through the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital, The Childhood Cancer Association aims to provide practical, hands-on support to families through their programs such as accommodations, therapy, and a range of bereavement support services. With this, the group constantly hosts events that are purposeful and at the same time, engaging for people who are looking for ways to extend their generous hearts, like the Annual OnkaStompa Fishing Competition.
The 18th annual OnkaStompa Fishing Competition is a fun, family-friendly fishing fundraiser which is held each November at Perry’s Bend on the Onkaparinga River in Noarlunga Downs.
Categories are: Biggest Overall Bream (Onkastompa Champion); Biggest Bream Men; Biggest Bream Women; Biggest Bream Junior <15; Biggest Mulloway (Open Class); Biggest “Other Fish” Senior; and Biggest “Other Fish Junior <15.*
