In today’s fast-paced world, taking care of our mental health is more crucial than ever. Just as we prioritize our physical well-being, our mental well-being deserves attention too. Mental health influences how we think, feel, and cope with life’s challenges. The pressures of modern life, from digital connectivity to uncertain times, can impact our mental state. Recognizing the significance of mental health equips us to handle stress, build resilience, and maintain fulfilling relationships. By understanding its importance, we empower ourselves and others to seek help when needed, promoting a healthier and more balanced life for everyone.
To support this vital aspect of well-being, organizations like the Mental Awareness Foundation play a crucial role. By raising awareness, providing resources, and promoting open conversations about mental health, they contribute to a society where mental well-being is valued and nurtured.
As part of their efforts, the Mental Awareness Foundation is gearing up for their upcoming fundraising event, the 13th Annual Walk for Awareness. This event not only encourages physical activity but also serves as a platform to unite individuals in destigmatizing mental health challenges. By participating in this event, attendees can show their support while actively contributing to the foundation’s mission.
ABOUT THE EVENT
This is a time to come together as a community, celebrate life and remember those we’ve lost. We have two options available to participate. A virtual walk, so you can walk wherever you want or our physical walk in Brisbane with 1,000’s of people making a difference in our community.Beginning with an inspiring opening ceremony, we will remember those lost to depression and mental illness and honour those continuing the battle. We will have a quick warm-up and stretch, then take off on our 9km walk.
We encourage you to join us at Captain Burke park or virtually. Share your photos with the rest of the Walk for Awareness community, showing the amazing impact you’ve just made in the quest to raise awareness of depression and mental illness.
Walk for Awareness is an event that involves bringing people together in a friendly and safe environment where issues of mental health can be discussed openly with friends, family, and supportive strangers. We believe the matters surrounding suicide should be discussed, not hidden.
Join us in making a difference by signing up for the 13th Annual Walk for Awareness and standing together for mental health.
