Twestival Local 2009 Becomes A Tartan Twestival 2009: Following Success

Twestival local 2009 becomes a tartan Twestival

Following the success of the first global on February 12 2009, in which 202 cities participated, Twestival returns in September with a local twist
on “Twestival” – the volunteer-run, charity fundraising events for people who know each other through the micro-blogging service twitter.com. After the McTwitterati came out in force for Edinburgh and Glasgow events in February, this time there is a three way Scottish battle to take the Twestival fund-raising crown. In alphabetical order: Edinburgh Twestival () is hosting an event at the fabulous, luxurious Electric Circus on Thursday September 10. All ticket money and any profits will go directly to CLIC Sargent, Scotland’s leading children’s cancer charity. On the same day, Glasgow Twestival () will be holding a live event at The Living Room . All ticket money and any profits will go directly to No Strings Attached, an independent charity working in with the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the health profession to provide opportunities for young people with asthma. Inverness Twestival () will be announcing their line up to the world next week – suffice to say there is a lot of water involved. All ticket money and any profits will go directly to Highland Hospice, the only hospice serving adults with incurable life-limiting disease in the region. There is still time to get involved, volunteering, attending, or donating time, goods and services. Or even, if people are quick, to become the fourth Scottish event. Events can be anything from a coffee morning or seminar to a full blown party. The first 24 hour “‘tweet-up’ with a social conscience”, held in February 2009, inspired thousands and raised $250,000 for clean water charity and this event, Twestival Local, looks set to be even bigger.
Global partners across all countries for Twestival are Amiando, Citrix Online, Blurb and Causecast.
