And successful it was with a number of charities now sharing in an impressive $70,000.
Between May 19 and 23, Great Walk Foundation Members Mark Geyer, Rob Wearn, Jonathon Green and Mark Mulock walked from Bathurst to Blaxland to raise monies for local charities. The walk covered some 165 km over the five day period. The walkers experienced severe weather conditions for the final two days of the walk but all successfully arrived at the Lapstone Hotel, Blaxland, to complete the journey. Despite adverse economic conditions which prevailed, the Great Walk Foundation raised in excess of $70,000. Recently the Mayor of Penrith Cr Jim Aitken formally welcomed members of the Great Walk Foundation at a reception at Penrith City Council Chambers. The members presented a cheque for $70,000 raised from donations.
The recipients of the monies raised by the Great Walk Foundation this year include Nepean Hospital Paediatrics Unit, Penrith Community Kitchen, Lifestart Co-op Limited, Kingswood Primary School Early Intervention Program for Children, Panthers on the Prowl and Bathurst
