25 /PRNewswire-Asia/ — Back for the 3rd time, the trade fair will feature wines from Australia, California, Chile, France, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, South Africa among many others. Wines are the focus at Wine & Gourmet Asia 2009. The only dedicated trade fair for the high-end food, beverage and hospitality industry in Asia will showcase major wine producers from around the world as well as present several wine programs. Five country pavilions for the three-year-old trade show will be exhibiting, including new pavilions from Korea and Spain and return groups from Australia, Portugal and Singapore. The Portugal group will be exhibiting for the second time with a pavilion twice the size of that last year. The organizer of the Portugal pavilion said, “All our exhibitors were very satisfied. I would definitely recommend Wine & Gourmet Asia as a trade show to attend.” The new Spanish pavilion is represented by the region of Aragon whose excellent climatic and soil conditions produce high quality wines. Asian Cocktail Championship is the only international bartending competition in Macau. Over 100 competitors from Asia are expected to congregate at Wine & Gourmet Asia, highlighting the importance of the cocktail culture in the wine and dine industry. The newly established Association of Bartenders and Sommeliers Macau will help bring in more local contestants to give more recognition to bartenders in Macau. Besides winemakers, wine distributors and retailers, there will also be a wine trading center at Wine & Gourmet Asia. Exhibiting for the first time, Banny Wines Cellar which is Macau’s largest red wine trading center will assist those interested in wine investment. Wine & Gourmet Asia is truly a comprehensive professional event covering all aspects of wine and gourmet. Wine & Gourmet Asia is more than just a trade exhibition it provides a platform to honor hospitality professionals. Besides the Asian Cocktail Championship, the MORS Gold Pin competition and the Macau Culinary Association Winning Showpiece Display will be held in conjunction with the trade fair. Wine & Gourmet Asia 2009 promises to be a dazzling highlight in the events calendar of Macau. Strongly supported by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), it will be held for the first time in partnership with the largest international trade fair in Macau, the Macau International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF). The trade event attracts major trade mission delegates every year – 274 delegations from 57 countries and regions attended in 2008.
