Kathryn (Kaczmarek) Wallenfang, 81, Green Bay, passed away on Aug.
13, 2009, after a courageous six-year journey with Alzheimer’s. The long goodbye is over. Katie Wallenfang, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, joined her husband, Merlin, for her final reward. She was crafty and creative, especially making cedar wreaths during the holidays. Katie made every family event special and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She took great joy in her remodeling and was never afraid to swing the hammer. Katie is survived by her children, Kathy (Denis) Lee, George (Joanie) Wallenfang, Sue (Steve) Le Duc, Mary (Dennis) Diehl, Michael (Doreen) Wallenfang and Barb (Gon) Nguyen grandchildren, Sean (Marcia) Lee, Aaron (Holly) Lee, Theresa (Rick) Dix, Chatty (Bob) Krueger, Shane Mikkelson, Nathan Wallenfang, Tony (Lisa) Van Lannen, Adam Diehl, Aprille Diehl, Corey (Jessica) Wallenfang, Kyle Wallenfang, Chrissy Nguyen, Heather Nguyen, Nick Nguyen great-grandchildren, Seth, Meghan and Caitlyn Lee, Alicia Dix, Sidney, Jackson and Celia Marie Van Lannen. Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin twin grandsons, Ryan and Nathan Diehl numerous sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Friends may call at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St, on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, after 2 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial Mass will be 5 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Ken De Groot, O. Praem., officiating. Entombment at Allouez Catholic Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in Katie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Anna’s Healthcare or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Anna’s Healthcare, Inc., Unity Hospice, especially Kara, Gina and Nicki, and other caregivers who assisted Katie and her family over these most challenging years.
