Lochy, 4, and mum Kylie Bocking get ready for the cystic fibrosis charity ball on May 30. THE ROYAL Children’s Hospital is like a second home to four-year-old Lochy Bocking of Narangba. Mum Kylie said her son’s Cystic Fibrosis (CF) had him spending up to 30 weeks a year in hospital. Children like Lochy are susceptible to 10 to 12 colds a year, and his colds turn into chest infections and each one takes three weeks in hospital,’’ Mrs Bocking said. Lochy also needs physio twice a day and requires a high-fat and high-salt diet to combat his illness. CF can also be a costly illness. Enter Cystic Fibrosis Queensland (CFQ), which receives minimal government funding in its support of CF clients. Next Saturday night CFQ holds its premier fundraising event – the annual ball – this year called the Balle de Classique Grandeur. Billed as an evening of unprecedented refinement, grace and beauty’’ the event is at the Convention Centre and $245 buys a seat, a three-course meal, wine, beer and entertainment. Last year more than 500 guests turned up and CFQ raised $180,000. Book on 33598000 or visit . 19 May 09 19 May 09
