AN Uddingston mum-of-one is hoping to raise £10,000 for charity as she organises a one-off fashion show at Bothwell Bridge Hotel.
Irene Viola (46) is aiming to raise the cash for St Andrew’s Hospice with her Fashion Rocks night on Sunday, which starts at 7pm. The evening will be hosted by Real Radio’s Robin Galloway and will feature outfits from a range of brands such as Eleganza Sposa, as well as including raffles, a charity auction and a buffet. Motherwell-born singer Kevin Rodgers (28) will also be performing on the night, singing in a range of styles from swing to rock. Irene &ndash who works at Cadzow Health Centre &ndash is also planning to showcase her own designs at the event. She expects to attract 230 people to what she describes as a “great girls’ night out”. Irene said: “I really, really love fashion and I have a personal collection in it this year as well. I think it just started off as a wee notion to have a charity fashion show, but it has just got bigger and bigger each week, with lots of different people coming on board and we’ve managed to get a lot of different features. “We’re auctioning off signed Celtic shirts, signed Rangers shirts and a few raffle prizes &ndash such as hotel and concert packages.
“I first got involved after my mum died of cancer six years ago. I work in a surgery, seeing a lot of these patients all the time and seeing what they are going through. There was a poster in the work for St Andrew’s and when I saw it, I just thought ‘I’m going to do that’.
