Nonprofits This Saturday, skaters in the Mount Airy skate park will do tricks to music.
Not unusual, but what is unusual is the music is provided by live local bands jamming for FoodFest 2009. The event is a benefit concert for the Carroll County Food Sunday, a local nonprofit that feeds the hungry in Carroll County. He said he wanted to play a concert with his band "The Delicious Eatin Crackers," but thought instead of just a concert, they could also associate the event with a charity. The event will take place from noon-7 p.m. Saturday in Watkins Park. Admission is free, but attendants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the event. Collection boxes will be available. Bands perform on the hour starting at noon in the following order: The Outlawed (southern metal band from South Carroll High School), Pete Yorko (one-man punk country band from Baltimore), The Sombertones (Progressive Psychedelic band from Baltimore), Wren Lloyd (Experimental Hardcore from Baltimore), The Boombots (Bluesy rock band from Columbia), The Kindness of Strangers (modern rock band from Westminster) and The Delicious Eatin Crackers (ambient groove band from Eldersburg).
