Golf enthusiasts will tee off for a cause that is close to Michael Collis’ heart next month.
The Chance Whitton SIDS and Kids charity golf day will be held at Dunheved Golf Club in St Marys on June 25. Collis has organised the fundraiser in memory of his nephew Chance, who died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in December 2004. Collis hopes that the inaugural fundraiser will become an annual event. It also provides support for families who experience the death of their baby during pregnancy, birth and infancy. SIDS is the sudden and unexplained death of a seemingly healthy baby while asleep. It is major cause of death in babies aged 0-1, with most deaths occurring between two and four months.
Collis also hopes to raise community awareness about SIDS.
