Walk in the Spirit 2026 Everald Walk

Join Walk in the Spirit on October 5, 2026, for an 11km walk around Uluru and nationwide community walks raising funds for Dorcas ACTS.

Many people and families across Australia experience hardship and crisis at different stages of their lives. Community fundraising can help organisations provide practical support while bringing people together around compassion, generosity, and a shared commitment to helping others.

Dorcas ACTS is a crisis charity that organises Walk in the Spirit, also known as the Everald Walk, as a nationwide fundraising initiative supporting its charitable work. The event encourages people to take action by walking together and raising funds for those experiencing hardship. The Walk in the Spirit 2026 will take place on Monday, 5 October 2026, with a flagship 11-kilometre walk around Uluru in the Northern Territory.

The 2026 event will be a special WITS Walker experience, with philanthropists Everald and Helen Compton leading an expected 100 walkers at Uluru in celebration of Everald’s 95th birthday.

The event is designed to be both a fundraising walk and a powerful reflective experience, with participants gathering at one of Australia’s most significant locations. An Indigenous elder will also present a cultural talk during the pre-event formal dinner. While the main walk will take place at Uluru, Walk in the Spirit will also involve local neighbourhood walks across Australia, with a nationwide goal of reaching 1,000 WITS Walkers. The Dorcas ACTS committee will lead the local Aspley and Chermside walk in Queensland.

Organisers are aiming to raise $100,000 through the 2026 campaign. Supporters can participate by registering as a WITS Walker or volunteering to help with the event.

Walk in the Spirit provides an opportunity for people across Australia to come together through walking, reflection, and fundraising while supporting the work of Dorcas ACTS. The event is more than a fundraising walk—it is a nationwide community initiative designed to inspire people to care, take action, and make a meaningful contribution to those in need.
