It was just three weeks before the Havana Bar Fun Day event that owner Christine Dixon called Paul Cunningham Nurses.
She knew that she wanted to do something to help raise money for cancer patients as one of the partners in her bar was undergoing treatment. However, not quite sure exactly what she wanted to do, she made the call, and that is when ‘Whirlwind Dixon’ started! In just three weeks, Christine put together a fantastic day that would have left some professional organisers trailing.
Thank You
Christine is already talking about her next event and Susan Reader from Paul Cunningham Nurses said: “We are very grateful to people like Christine who work so hard every day and than have such energy to put into events like this: a very big thank you to Christine from Paul Cunningham Nurses”.
That same weekend, Denise Brown, Paul Cunningham Nurses volunteer, had planned a garden party in aid of the charity but when she discovered a neighbour was doing the same thing, they made in into a huge street party! Despite the cold weather, in great spirits they raised in excess of 400 euros!
The La Bodega Restaurant in La Marina is famous for its food, frivolity and fundraising and this was proved in abundance at the recent ROYAL KARAOKE NIGHT with many of their regulars dressing the part as well as singing. The bar and restaurant, owned by TKO’s Dave Royal and his wife Tracie, held the event for Paul Cunningham Nurses and it all started with an idea from Marilyn and John who live in Guardamar but regularly travel to la Marina to visit La Bodega. They and a few of the regulars got together to plan the event and chose Paul Cunningham Nurses as the charity that would benefit.
Fundraising Manager Susan Reader said: “Our main office is in La Marina, so we were delighted that the organisers had chosen Paul Cunningham Nurses as the charity they wanted to support. One of my main aims is to raise the awareness of Paul Cunningham Nurses and tell as many people as possible about the nursing care we are able to offer in the community.”
