The Arizona State men are seeded third and Arizona sixth in different NCAA regional tournaments, which will be played May 14-16.
ASU, which has seven top-10 finishes in 10 events this season, is seeded third at Lake Mead Golf Club in Daly City, Calif., behind Southern California and Texas A&M. The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 26-30 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. •Two players each from ASU and Arizona have received Pac-10 Conference honors. For the Sun Devils, sophomore Stephan Gross was a first-team pick and junior Knut Borsheim was named to the second team. Arizona’s Tarquin MacManus was named to the second team, and Rich Saferian was honorable mention. Both are sophomores. Frys launches sales The Open kicked off its ticket sales campaign this week by announcing that a 25 percent discount will be given during May on all hospitality packages and each of the event’s three pro-ams. The Frys tournament, which will be played Oct. 21-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, is part of the PGA Tour’s Fall Series and offers a $5 million purse, including $900,000 for the winner.
Along with its two annual pro-ams, Chairman Scott Reid announced recently that the event is adding a Fry’s and Friends Fore Adoption Pro-Am, which hopes to attract more females and couples.
