The Friends of Hospice and the Seascape Ambassadors are preparing for the ninth annual Dr.
Rich Shapiro Memorial Fairways for Kids Golf Classic on May 6 at the Seascape Golf Club to benefit the HUG Healthy Understanding of Grief program for children at Hospice of Santa Cruz County. Serving over 500 children this past year, HUG responds to the specific needs of children who are grieving the loss of a loved one. HUG provides children with age-appropriate activities to channel their feelings through drawing, movement, role-play, creating memory books, journaling and direct discussion and communication. “We couldn’t do this work without the community’s support” says Cherie Alexander, coordinator of the HUG program. “We are so grateful for the Friends of Hospice and the Seascape Ambassadors for helping to raise funds and awareness for this important program.” Golfers of all levels are invited to join in a fun-filled day of 18 holes of golf, contests, auctions, great food and more.
