THOUSANDS of pounds was raised for charity yesterday when runners from across Lincolnshire took part in the London Marathon.
After months of hard work preparing for the 26.2-mile race, more than 20 runners from the region crossed the finishing line. Dedicated fundraiser and keen runner Surinder Kaur Fowler completed the course in just over five hours. So far, she has raised nearly £2,000 for people with diabetes. Surinder (50), of Grimsby, said: “It was a very good experience, I really enjoyed it. I am limping a bit, but it was still good.” He said: “I had operations on my kidneys when I was younger, so I wanted to give something back. “I have raised about £2,150 and I am really proud – and a bit surprised. I work for Rington’s Tea and my customers have been fantastic.
“It has been one of the best days of my life.”
