LPGA Stars Turn Out To Support Local Product 2009: David Duncan

LPGA stars turn out to support local product

For the first time, the David Duncan Memorial Classic boasted star power as 18 LPGA Tour professionals traversed East Ridge Country Club.
The charity event bearing David’s name benefited the Goldman School, a division of The Arc of Caddo-Bossier. “Yeah, it really is my biggest way to give back,” said Duncan, whose father passed away from cancer in 2003. “To do it for the school was great. And we wanted to show off Shreveport to the girls.” Many of the LPGA professionals in town attended the Krewe of Gemini Parade on Saturday. Sunday, the pros hopped on a float and got the bead-throwing experience in the Highland Parade. “We gave them some culture,” said Duncan, a four-year Tour veteran. LPGA veteran Michelle McGann raved about the Mardi Gras experience, although next year she said the pros will use their experience to be better on the float next year. “We ran out of beads before the end,” she said. “We didn’t realize how long the parade was. We just kept chucking them. After a while, I was only able to drop them out of the float. It was a great time.
“We’ll know to pace ourselves next time.”
