3:00pm Wednesday 18th February 2009 Running from Saturday, May 23 until Sunday, May 31 the nine-day festival aims to celebrate life in and around
the river Fal. Established in 2006, this year’s Fal River Festival will feature over 100 events and offer a mix of culture, music, arts, food, literature, drama, industry, events, gardens, sports and history. Festival organiser Toby Budd, said: “The festival offers something for everyone and a chance to engage with life on the Fal and discover some of the river’s history. “Its a celebration of life on the river, and a chance to really embrace the places, people, history and culture that are connected by this very Cornish river. “As a result we’re really excited about this year’s festival, as its developing a real buzz and we have some really exciting events coming together, so watch this space for more info.” The festival will launch on Friday, May 22 with a procession of sail down the river, whilst over the nine days organisers estimate over 30,000 people will get involved in the festival events.
Other events include the Fal River Walk, King Harry Charity Gig Race, a kids’ triathlon, Sea Dance and a series free live music events.
