A painting of the Spirit of Mystery that sailed into Melbourne earlier this year in an epic recreation of an historical journey is to be auctioned for charity.
Adventurer Pete Goss and his crew set out to build and sail a replica of the smallest migrant vessel to ever successfully reach Australia, and recreate the voyage of seven Cornishmen who came to the Victorian gold fields 154 years ago. His exciting journey has been immortalized by artist Glyn Macey, and the painting has justgone on sale to raise money for the charity Goss founded. Cornwall Playing For Success uses sport and physical activity to dramatically improve young peoples attitudes to learning and motivation at school.
The charity auction of the painting will therefore go towards the next generation of adventurers seeking out the spirit of mystery.
