WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING
The Congo the forgotten disaster!
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the worst humanitarian disaster with deaths of around 5.4 million in 7 years that is more deaths than the Tsunami, Burma and Chinese Earthquake combined. The worst bit is no one even knew!
The Congo Appeal is the smallest registered charity in Australia and operates entirely through the tireless efforts of volunteers. It aims to raise global awareness of the reality of poverty and hardship for many residents of the Congo and to empower people to become economically self-sufficient through education and sustainable projects.
Current Project. With the support and goodwill of many Australians has so far collected and shipped two containers of used or secondhand/excess educational materials from Australia to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to enable ex-child soldiers, street kids, women and young girls to partake in education and give them back their dignity.
$11,400 has been raised so far and another $3000 is still needed for TOLL Australia to release the goods now in Tanzania and allow them to be transported to the Congo and into the hands of eager school children and their teachers where they are so desperately needed. All collected items are sent to the Council of Churches, (DRC) for distribution. ANY MONATARY DONATION IS ALSO ACCEPTED.MAMMA MIA Movie Fundraising.pdf (87 KB)
