Lord Mayor John So will start this year’s Defence Lake Attack Charity Fun Run Walk by firing an artillery gun.
Then a second wave of competitors will be sent packing by James Merlino, Minister for Sport and Recreation and Youth Affairs.
As well as the Fun Run Walk, the Defence Lake Attack has two hours of post run fun including a red beret parachute drop, jumping castle, Army Commandos and horses.
There are challenges for schools, teams and corporate entrants and the funds raised will be shared between the Compassionate Friends Victoria Incorporated, Legacy Victoria, Kidsafe Victoria and Redkite charities.
The Defence Lake Attack Charity Fun Run Walk is on August 26.
