At the turn of June 1, winter suddenly hit Melbourne and it got perpetually colder, which means Off Your Back needs the clothes off your back for their winter coat drive.
We allenjoy, as a given, having heating, a roof over our heads and clothes to keep us warm outside but for some people, especially kids, those things are a luxury that they can’t afford.
On any given night in Victoria, there about 2618 homeless children under 12, with parents. On top of that there are 4663 homeless children between 12 and 18 without a parent, and 2401 homeless youth aged 19 to 24.
Off Your Back wants to help, by asking you to sort through your closet, which probably needs a bit of a clearing out anyway, and grabbing that 80’s footy duffle coat or the big-old-blue bomber jacket and taking it to one of a couple of close-by pick up points.
All sorts of coats are required (not just the daggy ones) – men’s, women’s and children’s, as many as you can muster.
