On March 28, 2015 – 20,000 cute, birght yellow rubber duckies will be doing their part to help support UCPA of Hawaii and those with disabilities in the islands, with their 100-yd. dash down the Ala Wai Canal. Top 50 finishers and last place duck will win their adopted owners great prizes.
Ducks will dive off of the Kalakaua Ave. Bridge at 1:28 p.m. Pre-race activities run from 9am-12:30pm at McCully Shopping Center, located a short few minutes walk from the start line. There will be live entertainment, games, prize giveaways and a special duckie souvenir store.
To adopt a duckie and be part of this year’s event, go online at www.ucpahi.org or call the duckie hotline at (808) 532-6744.
UCPA of Hawaii takes great pride in being the first nonprofit to officially sponsor a rubber duckie race, not only in Hawaii, but the United States, as well.
According to UCPA Executive Director, Donna D. Fouts, “Duckie races have generated over 1.25 million dollars for individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities in our community. We definitely embrace these bathtub cuties.”
