Mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence are issues that affect many people around the world. However, despite how common these issues are, due to a lack of discussion and awareness of these topics, many people impacted by them don’t get the help that they need. These will only continue to worsen when people are unable to receive help. Left untreated, this can even become fatal. Many people have already lost their lives due to this, but there are ways to prevent this from happening again and to help people who have survived this trauma. By bringing attention to these issues and helping the people who struggle with them, many lives could be saved.
BHcare aims to help people struggling with mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence. In order to help with this goal, they are holding their annual A Chance to Shine walk, which will raise funds and awareness, as well as honoring those who have lost their lives and who have survived through these difficulties.
Join us on Saturday, June 3, from 10 am to 3 pm at Quarry Walk in Oxford for A Chance to Shine 2023.
The morning will begin with a Walk to Remember in honor of Lori Jackson and those who may have lost their lives to or are survivors of domestic violence, mental health issues or substance use.
We’ll have live music by Morgan Skelly and the Old Crows, kids’ bike parade, touch-a-truck, raffles, 50/50 and more. Bring your own blankets and snacks or grab a bite at one of the several Quarry Walk eateries.
Help us raise funds and awareness for BHcare’s life-saving programs and build a better tomorrow for the more than 15,000 residents we serve in 87 Connecticut towns.
