A Weekly Reminder Of The Nice Things We Do For Each Other 2009: Nanaimo Bank

A weekly reminder of the nice things we do for each other

Nanaimo bank employees were “arrested” for a good cause.
The new addition to the company’s fundraising toolkit helped double its donation total from last year, raising more than $13,000 for the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation. Staffers also donned medical scrubs and hosted events such as raffles, an online silent auction and bake, hotdog and hamburger sales throughout June. Commercial account representatives Brian Anderson and Jim King raised a combined $2,600 during their hour in lockup. Local companies, such as Save-On Foods, Home Hardware and Central Drugs, also provided products and services to support its fundraising efforts. CASINO HELPS OUT The Nanaimo Great Canadian Casino lent a helping hand to the Nanaimo Empire Days Celebration Society with a $5,000 donation.
Casino guest services superviser Tracey Benoit and casino general manager Kwai Lam were on hand for the cheque presentation, which included society members Barbara Desprez, Warren Sibbet, Ron Hopper, Karen Hopper, Scott Thomson and president Sheila Thomson.
