Andy Towle/Roundup – atowlepayson.com All motorcycle riders are invited to a free Blessing of the Bikes, coffee and treats at 10 a.m., Saturday, May
30 at the Payson United Methodist Church, 414 Easy Street, one block behind Ace Hardware and Bison Cove Condominiums. The event is social and includes a brief blessing in appreciation of our freedom to ride in God’s creation. After the blessing and time to see old friends and meet new ones, the group will ride up Highway 87 to Lake Mary Road for lunch at Mormon Lake Lodge. The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Payson PRMC’s “Batting For a Cure Team†will hold a charity softball event from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, May 31 at Payson Elementary School. A $1 donation per person is suggested, and children attending will get a free hot dog. Concessions will be provided by PRMC’s Dietary Department. There will also be a raffle for Diamondbacks baseball paraphernalia and “In Honor of†Relay for Life Luminaries. All proceeds will go toward the 2009 Payson Relay for Life, to be held from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., June 5 and 6. Bring your lawn chair and your cheers and heckles and have some fun. Call (928) 472-1275 for more information. Week-long sale The Time Out Thrift Shop is having a week-long Memorial Day celebration sale. Through May 30, everything in the shop and on the sidewalk will be at least 50 percent off some items will be more deeply discounted. Exceptions to the sale are the boutique, Western wear and jewelry items.
The shop is located at 500 S. Beeline Highway (across from Wendy’s) and will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during this sale. The donation gate hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
