National Day of Prayer observed Thursday The National Day of Prayer will be observed May 7 with six Christ-centered events in Rim Country. Each
event will have a theme of “Prayer … America’s Hope,†from Psalms 33:22. Crossroads Church, 114 E. Cedar, and Mountain Bible Church, 302 E. Rancho, will each be having a time of special prayer from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., along with a light continental breakfast. At Mountain Bible, Mike Latsko, who has worked in Central Asia, will also be speaking about the National Day of Prayer. Pine will be having two special observances, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the Pine Elementary School flagpole, and from 11 a.m. until noon at the Pine Community Center Ramada. Payson’s Rumsey Park Ramada 5 will be the site of another event, with a patriotic emphasis, from noon until 1 p.m., and will include music led by Payson Community Christian School. The evening opportunity to observe the National Day of Prayer will begin at 7 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway, where town leadership will be a special prayer emphasis. Driver Safety Class set
AARP will hold a driver safety class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, at the Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St. This is a four-hour class new in Arizona (instead of the eight hour class) for motorists age 50 and older.
