Arrowhead Pro Proud Participant In PGA Senior Event 2009: Arrowhead Country

Arrowhead pro proud participant in PGA senior event

Arrowhead Country Club professional Fred Holton is teeing it up at the PGA Senior Championship, and he has a predictable first goal.
He hopes to make the cut. “I feel I have the game,” Holton said, “if I keep my nerves about me and play my game.” Holton is one of 37 club professionals playing in this week’s tournament at Canterbury Golf Club near Cleveland, and he’s playing in it for the first time. The 51-year-old has been there since Sunday, played practice rounds Monday and Tuesday and found himself gawking on the driving range, too. “I was out there, and Jay Haas walked by and starting hitting on my right,” Holton said. “Then Tom Kite came up and was hitting on my left. I look around and there’s Bernhard Langer and Mark O’Meara.” Haas won last year’s PGA Senior Championship. Langer is the current money leader. Kite is a legendary figure with 29 career victories. O’Meara is another big winner who was ranked among the top 10 in the world from 1986-2000.
“You see all those guys, and it will make you stop and think,” Holton said.
