According to the World Health Organization, “300 million children [worldwide] – aged 2–4 years regularly suffer physical punishment and/or psychological violence at the hands of parents and caregivers.” Furthermore, “One in 5 women, and 1 in 13 men, report having been sexually abused as a child aged 0-17 years.” Even more distressing than these numbers is the fact that a person who has been abused as a child is more likely to abuse others, and so unfortunately, the cycle of violence never ends. This is what CASA of Jefferson County is trying to address. “A nonprofit organization that recruits, educates, and supports CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers who advocate in the best interest of children who fall victim to neglect and abuse,” CASA of Jefferson County is working hard to bring down incidents of child abuse and ultimately find safe and permanent homes for these kids. To do this, they need support and funding.
On April 25, Casa of Jefferson County will be having their “2024 Make Art with the Pieces Charity Auction” at the Hen & Ben Event Center, Indiana. Live entertainment, delicious food, exciting raffle, and a thrilling silent auction will fill the evening. Proceeds from the event will go to recruiting and training the volunteers who advocate for the abused children of Jefferson County.
We’re excited to announce our 2024 When Your Heart is Broken, Make Art with the Pieces Charity Auction.
This year’s event will return to the Hen & Ben Event Center on the evening of Thursday, April 25th, 2024. Doors open at 6pm for guests to arrive and enjoy live entertainment, a catered buffet of heavy appetizers by The Rolling Pin, and a cash bar while mingling and perusing our silent auction and raffle. The program will begin at 7pm and feature an address by our Circuit Court Judge, DJ Mote, a celebration of our Champion for Children Honorees, our live auction, and more music to finish the evening.
We are proud to once again partner with Eric Phagan and his Madison Junior High School students to bring one-of-a-kind artwork to the live auction, as well as many new and exciting “experience” packages for guests to bid on. Items will range from artwork to culinary and party packages and a chance to bid on a 7-day cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line!
All net proceeds from the event will be used to recruit, train, and support volunteers who advocate for our local abused and neglected children of Jefferson County.
Buddha once said, “Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened.
