Belks To Host 4hour Charity Sale Saturday 2009: Belks Charity

Belks to host 4hour charity sale Saturday

Belk’s Charity Sale was such a huge hit last fall that it’s bringing it back this spring.
On Saturday, the Charlotte-based department store, the largest privately-owned chain in the country, will hold a four-hour, in-store shopping event to raise funds for local charities and offer customer discounts. For a $5 donation, customers will receive a ticket admitting them to the sale from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for discounts ranging from 20 percent to 50 percent. Customers also will receive $5 off their first purchase of $5 or more at the event, and Belk cardholders will receive double points for card purchases. Participating local charities will sell tickets in advance and the proceeds from each $5 ticket will be retained by the charity. Tickets also can be purchased at Belk stores. Last fall, the event raised $4.5 million for nonprofit organizations. Nearly 30 local charities and schools will participate this year. Checked out
