Big Hearts for Seniors

Share stories to uplift the elderly!

The great Nelson Mandela once said, “A society that does not value its older people denies its roots and endangers its future.” To a major extent, his reminder hasn’t fallen on deaf ears. There have been significant improvements in the quality of life for many older people in recent decades. Advances in healthcare have led to increased life expectancy and improved treatments for age-related health conditions. Social security and pension programs have also provided some measure of financial security for many older adults.

However, there are still many challenges facing older people, such as ageism, social isolation, and economic insecurity. A fundraising drive, Big Hearts for Seniors, aims to uplift the spirits of the senior members of our society through storytelling and silent auction.

Join us for our 18th annual event – Big Hearted Stories: On Purpose – which will include a live storytelling event and silent auction benefiting six programs for older adults.

Big Hearts for Seniors is a special fundraising event and auction that provides critical resources to six social service organizations at Michigan Medicine. Each offers important services to older adults in our community.

The event benefits Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels, Housing Bureau for Seniors, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Silver Club Memory Programs, Turner African American Services Council, and Turner Senior Wellness Program.
