Vinnie Pinto nearly didn’t make it.
Born 16 weeks prematurely June 30, 2005, weighing just 1 pound, 10 ounces, the odds were stacked against him. But Tinley Park toddler Vinnie fought for life, and with the aid of doctors at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, was allowed to go home with his parents, Lou and Kelly Pinto, three months later. And Sunday morning, a healthy, beaming Vinnie led more than 500 charity walkers out at Midlothian Meadows at the March of Dimes South Suburban March for Babies. “We didn’t really expect to have a baby to bring home,” Vinnie’s proud father said, cupping his hands just inches apart and adding, “He was only this big. “Now he runs all over the house – he’s a normal 3-year-old kid who loves dump trucks and basketball.
“He’s a miracle.”
