Posted on February 18, 2009, 4:04pm , 3 views The Blue Lake Rangers Soccer Club challenges all sporting clubs, schools, businesses and individuals to
take part in the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Charity training session on Thursday night around the Blue Lake. The charity fundraiser will begin at the Aquifer Tours building at 6pm with a one minute silence before walking, running or cycling the Blue Lake circuit. The event will be a powerful way to show support as a large and diverse sporting community for the fire-ravaged communities. There will be a $5 entry fee for adults and $2 for students and all money raised will donated to Red Cross for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. Some sporting bodies and other organisations which have expressed an interest in taking part include, Blue Lake Soccer Club, Round Ball Academy, the Scotts of Mount Gambier Pioneers, Drifters Hockey Club, International Soccer Club, Yahl Cricket Club, East Gambier Netball Club, Mac Park School, Tenison Woods College and the South East Natural Resource Management Board. It is urged that club members and representatives of organisations wear their uniforms and all have been asked to collect each individual’s entry money prior to the start of the event.
The road around Blue Lake will be closed off including Bay Road for a short period which will allow pedestrians the right of way and a safe journey.
